Friday brings us the Federal Reserve’s annual Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, where Chair Jerome Powell is scheduled to give remarks.

Everyone is looking for hints of what to expect at the Fed’s next policy meeting. Currently, Fed futures funds pricing indicates a 100% likelihood of central bank policymakers lowering rates in September.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August 2024 is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 8:30 AM Eastern Time.

The next FOMC meeting will take place on September 17-18, 2024.

U.S. futures are mostly higher, European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down seven-tenths of a cent at $3.404 per gallon.
