The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained about 57 points, or 0.17%, to notch its longest winning streak since July.

The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages with conforming loan balances fell last week to 7.61% from 7.86% for the largest one-week decline in over a year. With the pullback, total mortgage application volume rose 2.5% last week from a year ago.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down three-tenths of a cent at $3.405 per gallon.
