The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Caterpillar (CAT) 226.05 (-6.65%), Amgen (AMGN) 255.70 (-2.85%) and Chevron (CVX) 145.73 (-0.25%).

The VIX closed Monday at 18.14 (-8.15%) and the 10 YR at 4.902 (+0.91%). The VIX is currently at 17.83 (-1.71%). The 10YR is at 4.847 (-0.23%).

The Treasury Department announced plans Wednesday to accelerate the size of its auctions as it looks to handle its heavy debt load and with financing costs rising. Most immediately, Treasury will auction $112 billion in debt next week to refund $102.2 billion of notes set to mature Nov. 15, raising more than $9 billion in extra funds.

Private sector payrolls in October came in weaker than expected, the ADP said Wednesday. Companies added 113,000 workers last month, lower than the 130,000 anticipated by economists. To be sure, that number is well above the unrevised 89,000 print seen in September. Wages, meanwhile, expanded by just 5.7% year over year.

Today we get the Fed’s latest policy announcement. Central bankers are largely expected to maintain rates steady, with fed funds futures pricing suggests a more than 99% probability that rates will remain at current levels. The decision is slated for release at 2 p.m. ET, followed by a news conference with Chair Jerome Powell at 2:30 p.m. ET.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down 1.6 cents at $3.462 per gallon.
