The VIX closed Friday at 21.27 (+2.85%) and the 10 YR at 4.876 (+0.66%). The VIX is currently at 20.69 (-2.73%). The 10YR is at 4.891 (+0.97%).

This week we get a Federal Reserve rate decision, jobs report and Apple’s earnings report. The central bank is widely expected to hold its benchmark interest rate at the same level. Apple (AAPL) will report earnings Thursday after the bell. And of course, Friday brings us the Jobs report.

McDonald’s (MCD) gained 2% in the premarket after reporting third-quarter results that topped analyst expectations as price hikes bolstered U.S. same-store sales. The company earned an adjusted $3.19 per share on revenue of $6.69 billion. Analysts expected a profit of $3 per share on revenue of $6.58 billion. Same-store sales, a key metric for restaurants, grew by 8.8% globally during the quarter, beating a forecast of 7.8%.

U.S. futures are mixed, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down two-tenths of a cent at $3.494 per gallon.
