Thursday the Dow closed up +57.54 (+0.17%) at 34,500.73.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +4.08%.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Intel (INTC) 38.18 (+3.24%), Amgen (AMGN) 254.39 (+2.16%).

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Apple (AAPL) 177.56 (-2.92%), Walgreens (WBA) 22.04 (-2.65%) and Nike (NKE) 97.93 (-2.25%).

The VIX closed Thursday at 14.40 (-0.35%) and the 10 YR at 4.225 (–0.68%). The VIX is currently at 14.46 (+0.42%). The 10YR is at 4.250 (-0.09%).

Not much going on today. I’m thinking we will get a bounce today. Guess we will see.

Oil prices are higher by more than 2% this week as tighter supply outweighed broader concerns, and added to investor fears that inflation could remain stubbornly high. Brent crude futures were last trading at around $90.62 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) futures were up at $87.50 a barrel.

U.S. futures are mostly lower, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up five-tenths of a cent at $3.808 per gallon.
