Data from the Commerce Department out Tuesday showed advance retail sales ticked up 0.2% month-over-month in June. Economists had forecasted a 0.5% increase.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down two-tenths of a cent at $3.563 per gallon.
