DJIA Market Happenings For Friday, March 22, 2019

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Cisco (CSCO), Merck (MRK), Microsoft (MSFT) and Procter & Gamble (PG). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -164 points.

Thursday the Dow was up +216.84 (+0.84%) at 25,962.51.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +11.30%.

There were 26 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Apple (AAPL) +3.68%, Travelers (TRV) +2.31% and Microsoft (MSFT) +2.30%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by JPMorgan (JPM) -1.58%, Disney (DIS) -1.21% and Boeing (BA) -0.92%.

Oil prices on Friday hovered close to 2019 peaks reached the previous day, propped up by supply cuts led by producer club OPEC and by US sanctions against Iran and Venezuela.

Fed hints at no rate hike in 2019. The US Federal Reserve at its March meeting said it would be patient in changing policy rates. The move comes in the backdrop of global economic concerns and muted inflationary pressures.

Apple (AAPL) has surpassed Microsoft (MSFT) to reclaim its title as the world’s most-valuable public company with a market cap of $916 billion.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.6 cents at $2.611 per gallon.

Earnings Reports.

Nike (NKE) reported earnings on 3/21/2019 after the market close of $0.68, beating estimates of $0.662 per share.

Walgreens (WBA) reports earnings on 4/2/201 before the market open.
