The Dow Market Happenings For Thursday, March 21, 2019

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -60 points.

Wednesday the Dow was down -141.71 (-0.55%) at 25,745.67.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +10.37%.

The Dow stock winners Wednesday were led by Home Depot (HD) +1.07%, McDonald’s (MCD) +1.02% and Apple (AAPL) +0.87%.

The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by Goldman Sachs (GS) -3.38%, UnitedHealth (UNH) -2.58% and JPMorgan (JPM) -2.13%.

Unemployment insurance weekly claims in the week ending March 16, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 221,000, a decrease of 9,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised up by 1,000 from 229,000 to 230,000. The 4-week moving average was 225,000, an increase of 1,000 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised up by 250 from 223,750 to 224,000.

European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.4 cents at $2.595 per gallon.
