DJIA Market Happenings For Thursday, February 28, 2019

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Boeing, Cisco (CSCO), Merck (MRK) and Nike (NKE). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -24 points.

Wednesday the Dow was down -72.80 (-0.28%) at 25,985.16.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +11.39%.

There were 13 Dow stocks up Wednesday.

The Dow stock winners Wednesday were led by Boeing (BA) +2.03%, Caterpillar (CAT) +1.16% and Exxon Mobil (XOM) +1.03%.

The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) -4.91%, Home Depot (HD) -2.46% and DowDuPont (DWDP) -1.41%.

Boeing (BA) announced the parent company of British Airways is buying up to 42 Boeing 777 long-haul passenger jets in a multi-billion dollar deal.

Unemployment insurance weekly claims in the week ending February 23, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 225,000, an increase of 8,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised up by 1,000 from 216,000 to 217,000. The 4-week moving average was 229,000, a decrease of 7,000 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised up by 250 from 235,750 to 236,000.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up eight-tenths of a cent at $2.413 per gallon.
