U.S. retail sales recorded their biggest drop in more than a year in May amid declining purchases of motor vehicles and discretionary spending, which may temper expectations for a sharp acceleration in economic growth in the second quarter.
European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.
The national average price of gasoline is down five-tenths of a cent at $2.324 per gallon.
