The Dow Market Happenings For Thursday, July 14, 2016

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +157 points.

Wednesday the Dow was up +24.45 (+0.13%) at 18,372.12.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +5.44%.

There were 18 Dow stocks up Wednesday.

The Dow stock winners Wednesday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) +1.16% and Verizon (VZ) +0.96%.

The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by Home Depot (HD) -0.95% and Apple (AAPL) -0.56%.

JPMorgan Chase (JPM -0.06%) climbed over 2% in premarket trading after it reported Q2 EPS of $1.55, higher than consensus of $1.43.

Procter & Gamble (PG +0.16%) was upgraded to ‘Buy’ from ‘Neutral’ at UBS with a 12-month price target of $96.

Jobless claims were unchanged at 254,000 in the week ended July 9, according to a Labor Department report released Thursday. The median estimate called for filings to increase to 265,000. In April, applications dropped to a four-decade low of 248,000.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is unchanged at $2.217 per gallon.
