The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Verizon (VZ) 39.09 (-6.08%), Disney (DIS) 94.13 (-1.68%) and Chevron (CVX) 156.99 (-1.36%).

The VIX closed Monday at 14.91 (-9.75%) and the 10 YR at 4.227 (-0.24%). The VIX is currently at 14.98 (-+0.47%). The 10YR is at 4.229 (-0.66%).

Coca-Cola (KO) rose +1.7% after a better-than-expected earnings report. Coca-Cola reported 84 cents in adjusted earnings per share on $12.36 billion of revenue. Analysts were expecting 81 cents per share and $11.76 billion of revenue. The company also raised its full-year guidance for organic revenue.

Not much going on this morning. After the close today we do get a look at earnings from Visa (V).

Services activity in the Philadelphia area showed its lowest level in more than a year during July, according to a survey released Tuesday. The Philadelphia Federal Reserve’s nonmanufacturing index tumbled to a reading of -10 for the month, the lowest since April 2023 after hitting 15.1 in June. The index measures the percentage difference between companies reporting expansion against contraction. Also in the survey, the new orders and sales indexes showed sharp drops, and the employment index plunged to -4.9, the first negative reading since June 2023.

U.S. futures are mixed, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up one-tenth of a cent at $3.502 per gallon.
