The Dow stock winners Tuesday were led by 3M (MMM) 101.92 (+4.87%), Salesforce (CRM) 221.17 (+3.93%) and Walgreens (WBA) 30.57 (+2.62%).

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by Merck (MRK) 108.70 (-1.15%), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) 158.63 (-0.55%) and Procter & Gamble (PG) 148.08 (-0.52%).

The VIX closed Tuesday at 14.84 (+1.53%) and the 10 YR at 3.960 (-0.28%). The VIX is currently at 14.06 (-5.26%). The 10YR is at 3.910 (-1.54%).

The consumer price index rose 3% on a year-over-year in June. Economists had expected a 3.1% increase. Core CPI, which strips out volatile food and energy prices, also rose less than expected. Month over month, the index rose 0.2% last month, also less than expected.

Tomorrow we get the June data for the producer price index.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is unchanged at $3.541 per gallon.
