The Dow stock winners Monday were led by Intel (INTC) 33.07 (+5.52%), Boeing (BA) 221.56 (+1.96%) and Cisco (CSCO) 50.48 (+1.65%).

The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Chevron (CVX) 157.33 (-0.96%), Procter & Gamble (PG) 145.41 (-0.78%) and Merck (MRK) 109.86 (-0.77%).

The VIX closed Monday at 15.01 (+8.53%) and the 10 YR at 3.729 (-0.75%). The VIX is currently at 14.60 (-2.73%). The 10YR is at 3.689 (-1.81%).

Inflation slowed for an 11th straight month in May as grocery price increase eased again and gas more than reversed the previous month’s rise. Overall, consumer prices increased 4% from a year earlier, down from 4.9% in April and a 40-year high of 9.1% last June, according to the Labor Department’s consumer price index. That’s the smallest yearly increase since March 2021. On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.1% following a 0.4% increase in April. Core prices, which exclude volatile food and energy items and better capture longer-term trends, have been tougher to tame. They rose 0.4% for the third straight month. Still, that lowered the annual increase from 5.5% to 5.3%, lowest since November 2021.

Apple (AAPL) shares closed at an all-time high on Monday, a week after hitting the fresh milestone on an intraday basis. Shares added more than 1.5% on Monday to close at $183.79 a share putting its market capitalization at $2.89 trillion.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down two-tenths of a cent at $3.592 per gallon.
