Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -30 points.

Friday the Dow was up +13.36 (+0.04%) at 34,479.60.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +12.65%.

There were 17 Dow stocks up Friday.

The Dow stock winners Friday were led by American Express (AXP) 164.51 (+1.41%), Goldman Sachs (GS) 378.05 (+1.10%) and McDonald’s (MCD) 236.93 (+1.00%).

The Dow stock losers Friday were led by Caterpillar (CAT) 220.70 (-2.23%), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) 164.96 (-1.27%) and UnitedHealth (UNH) 397.89 (-0.90%).

The Dow’s slight advance Friday inched the 30-stock average to less than 1% closer to last month’s record high close.

The 10-year Treasury yield was steady early Monday, firmly below 1.5%, ahead of the Federal Reserve’s June meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday. Inflation will be front and center on investors’ minds after last week’s hotter-than-expected consumer price index reading for May.

US futures are mixed, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up two-tenths of a cent at $3.080 per gallon.
