The Dow Market Happenings For Friday, June 5, 2020

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +720 points.

Thursday the Dow was up +11.93 (+0.05%) at 26,281.82.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -7.91%.

There were 14 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Boeing (BA) +6.43%, Travelers (TRV) +3.08%, Dow (DOW) +2.59% and JPMorgan (JPM) +2.08%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were Nike (NKE) -2.72%, UnitedHealth (UNH) -2.38%, Procter & Gamble (PG) -2.09% and Visa (V) -1.64%.

The Jobs Report says employment rose by 2.5 million in May and the jobless rate declined to 13.3% according to data Friday that was far better than economists had been expecting. Economists had been expecting payrolls to drop by 8.333 million and the unemployment rate to rise to 19.5% from April’s 14.7%. The May gain was the biggest one-month jobs gain in U.S. history since at least 1939.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.2 cents at $2.003 per gallon.
