Tuesday the Dow was down -410.32 (-1.84%) at 21,917.16.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -23.20%.

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by American Express (AXP) -5.16%, Home Depot (HD) -4.79% and Procter & Gamble (PG) -4.35%.

Trump warned Americans to brace for a “hell of a bad two weeks” ahead as the White House projected there could be 100,000 to 240,000 deaths in the U.S. The U.S. coronavirus death toll surpassed 4,000 early Wednesday. Worldwide, there are more than 42,000 deaths and 860,000 confirmed cases.

Payrolls processor ADP data released Wednesday showed that companies reduced payrolls by 27,000 in early March before the worst of the effects from the pandemic was seen in the labor market. The breakdown is below.

Friday we get the US Jobs Report.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended lower.
