DJIA Market Happenings For Friday, April 5, 2019

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +78 points.

Thursday the Dow was up +166.50 (+0.64%) at 26,384.63.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +13.11%.

There were 19 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Dow (DOW) +4.98%, Boeing (BA) +2.89% and Disney (DIS) +1.98%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Merck (MRK) -1.60%, Walgreens (WBA) -1.26% and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) -1.17%.

The US economy added 196,000 jobs in March, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Friday. That comes after an unexpectedly weak gain of 33,000 nonfarm payrolls a month earlier. Wages rose 3.2% year-over-year, a slightly slower pace than in February.

European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.2 cents at $2.727 per gallon.

Walgreens (WBA) reported earnings on 4/2/2019 before the market open of $1.64, missing estimates calling for $1.732 per share.

Goldman Sachs (GS) reports earnings on 4/15/201 before the market open.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reports earnings on 4/16/201 before the market open.

UnitedHealth (UNH) reports earnings on 4/16/201 before the market open.

IBM (IBM) reports earnings on 4/16/2019 after the market close.
