The Dow Market Happenings For Friday, August 26, 2016

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -40 points.

Thursday the Dow was down -33.07 (-0.18%) at 18,448.41.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +5.87%.

There were 11 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Cisco (CSCO) +0.74% and Procter & Gamble (PG) +0.68%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) -1.84% and Nike (NKE) -1.63%.

The U.S. economy expanded at a sluggish 1.1 percent pace this spring as businesses sharply reduced their stockpiles of goods and spent less on new buildings and equipment. Friday’s estimate is slightly below the Commerce Department’s previous figure of 1.2 percent growth as measured by gross domestic product, the broadest gauge of the economy.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up seven-tenths of a cent at $2.205 per gallon.
