The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +147 points.

Monday, the Dow was up +103.29 (+0.60%) at 17,368.50.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -2.55%.

There were 22 Dow stocks up Monday.

The Dow stock winners Monday were led by Chevron (CVX) -3.34% and Exxon Mobil (XOM) +2.27%.

The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Dupont (DD) -3.58% and Boeing (BA) -1.12%.

The Fed begins its 2-day meeting.

Boeing (BA -1.12%) raised its quarterly dividend to $1.09 a share from 91 cents, higher than expectations of a hike to $1.02, and then raised its stock buyback authorization to $14 billion from $12 billion.

Chevron (CVX +3.34%) was rated a new ‘Outperform’ at CLSA with a price target of $95 and ConocoPhillips (COP +2.91%) was also rated a new ‘Outperform’ at CLSA with a price target of $52.

Verizon Communications (VZ +1.41%) was downgraded to ‘Neutral’ from ‘Buy’ at BTIG.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $2.013 per gallon.
