The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +87 points.

Friday, the Dow closed down -315.51 (-1.79%) at 17,280.83.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +4.25%. Nasdaq is up +11.4%, S&P 500 +8.3% and Russell 2000 is down -1.00%.

Last week the Dow lost -3.8%, Nasdaq -2.7%, S&P 500 -3.5% and Russell 2000 -2.5%.

There were no Dow stock winners Friday.

This is the last full trading week of 2014.

The largest Dow stock losers Friday included International Business Machines (IBM) -3.53%, Dupont (DD)-3.18%, Exxon Mobil (XOM) -2.91% and Merck (MRK) -2.73%.

The UAE energy minister said that OPEC will stand by its decision not to cut oil output even if crude prices fall as low as $40 a barrel and will wait at least three months before considering an emergency meeting.

Exxon Mobil (XOM) was upgraded to ‘Market Perform’ from ‘Underperform’ at BMO Capital.

European stocks are lmostly higher and Asian markets ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline over the weekend is down 4.5 cents at $2.545 per gallon.

Verifone Systems Inc. (PAY) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.41 on revenue of $483.42 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.27 on revenue of $432.30 million.
