The Dow Market Happenings For Monday, September 15, 2014

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Microsoft (MSFT) and Goldman Sachs (GS). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +7 points.

Friday, the Dow closed down -61.49 (-0.36%) at 16,987.51.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +2.48%. Nasdaq is up +9.4%, S&P 500 +7.4% and Russell 2000 -0.3%.

Last week the Dow was down -0.9%, Nasdaq -0.3%, S&P 500 -1.1% and Russell 2000 -0.8%.

Dow stock winners Friday included Goldman Sachs (GS) +1.20% and JPMorgan (JPM) +0.45%.

Dow stock losers Friday included Exxon Mobil (XOM) -1.29% and Verizon (VZ) -1.24%.

The Alibaba IPO is nearly here (launches Friday). Yahoo! (YHOO) shares are up in premarket trading after Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce company in which Yahoo is the second-biggest shareholder, said it plans to increase the top end of its IPO price range to above $70 amid strong investor demand.

The Fed meets this week.

European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is down five-tenths of a cent at $3.390 per gallon.

Nike (NKE) will report earnings on 9/25/14 after the market close.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. (DRI) reported first quarter EPS of $0.32 on revenue of $1.60 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.53 on revenue of $2.16 billion.

Stocks reporting earnings today include:

Analogic Corporation (ALOG) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $1.24 on revenue of $150.37 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $1.53 on revenue of $166.18 million.

Student Transportation Inc. (STB) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.07 on revenue of $137.63 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.08 on revenue of $122.28 million.
