The Dow Market Happenings For Monday, September 27, 2021 – Goldman Sachs (GS) +48.21% YTD

Dow stocks hitting 52 week highs include Salesforce (CRM) and McDonald’s (MCD). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +20 points.

Friday the Dow closed up +33.18 (+0.10%) at 34,798.00.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +13.69%.

There were 16 Dow stocks up Friday.

The Dow stock winners Friday were led by Salesforce (CRM) 285.63 (+2.80%), Visa (V) 231.59 (+1.44%) and American Express (AXP) 175.72 (+1.36%). Salesforce and Visa were both in last Fridays top winners list.

The Dow stock losers Friday were Nike (NKE) 149.59 (-6.26%), Dow (DOW) 56.81 (-1.08%) and Amgen (AMGN) 213.61 (-0.67%).

Bond prices fell Monday, pushing the yields on the 10-year and 30-year Treasurys to 1.5% and 2%, respectively, levels not seen in months.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is scheduled to testify before the Senate on Tuesday and the House on Thursday. Powell also appears on a European Central Bank panel with other central bank leaders Wednesday.

Congress this week needs to pass a funding plan in time to avert a government shutdown on Friday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expects the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill to be passed this week. The Senate has already passed the measure.

US futures are mixed, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up two-tenths of a cent at $3.189 per gallon.

Nike (NKE) reported earnings on 9/23/2021 after the market close of $1.16, beating estimates of $1.119 per share.
