Thursday the Dow was up +196.92 (+0.65%) at 30,606.48.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +0.0%. The Dow 2020 gain was +7.3%.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Intel (INTC) 49.82 (+2.19%), UnitedHealth (UNH) 350.68 (+1.65%) and Goldman Sachs (GS) 263.71 (+1.64%).

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Boeing (BA) 214.06 (-1.20%), Chevron (CVX) 84.45 (-1.03%) and Apple (AAPL) 132.69 (-0.77%).

Total U.S. coronavirus cases as of Monday morning exceeded 20.6 million with at least 351,580 deaths. December was the deadliest month of the pandemic, with over 22% of all U.S. Covid fatalities occurring last month alone. The seven-day daily new U.S. case and death averages, while off their worst ever numbers, were still running at extremely elevated levels. Current hospitalizations, 125,544 as of Sunday, hit another record high.

European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is unchanged at $2.256 per gallon.
