Intel (INTC) is giving up on its 5G smartphone business. CEO Bob Swan put out a statement on Tuesday saying there was “no clear path to profitability and positive returns” for Intel’s smartphone-modem business.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up one-tenth of a cent at $2.832 per gallon.
