The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -110 points.

Monday the Dow was up +354.24 (+1.46%) at 24,640.24.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -0.32%.

There were 28 Dow stocks up Monday.

The Dow stock winners Monday were led by American Express (AXP) +3.73%, Microsoft (MSFT) +3.30%, Travelers (TRV) +2.95% and Goldman Sachs (GS) +2.77%.

The Dow stock losers Monday were United Technologies (UTX) -0.872% and Coca Cola (KO) -0.31%.

Apple (AAPL +1.35%) fell nearly 2% in premarket trading after President Trump suggested a 10% tariff may be placed on iPhones and laptops made in China.

United Technologies (UTX -0.82%) gained more than 1% in premarket trading after it said it will spin off its Otis Elevator and Carrier as independent companies and keep its aerospace business.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down 1.3 cents at $2.542 per gallon.
