The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -22 points.

Monday the Dow was down -27.73 (-0.15%) at 18,404.51.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +5.62%.

The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Exxon Mobil (XOM) -3.47% and Chevron (CVX) -3.29%.

Consumer spending rose 0.4% for a second month in June. The median forecast called for a 0.3 percent gain in consumption, which accounts for about 70 percent of the economy. Incomes rose a less-than-projected 0.2 percent, while the saving rate declined to a more than one-year low.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down six-tenths of a cent at $2.126 per gallon.
