The Dow Market Happenings For Monday, April 14, 2014

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +65 points.

Friday, the Dow closed down -143.47 (-0.89%) at 16,026.75.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -3.32%. Nasdaq is down -4.2%, S&P 500 -1.8% and Russell 2000 -4.5%.

Last week the Dow was down -2.4%, Nasdaaq -3.1%, S&P 500 -2.6% and Russell 2000 -3.6%.

JPMorgan Chase (JPM) shares were down Friday and are slightly lower in premarket trading after the bank reported first quarter revenue that missed expectations. Its earnings were also down sharply compared to the same quarter last year.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) are down in European trading after Jeffries downgraded the stock to ‘Hold’ from ‘Buy,’ citing valuation.

European stocks are lower and Asian stocks ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is up three-tenths of a cent to $3.638 per gallon.

Wells Fargo & Company (WFC) reported first quarter EPS of $1.05 on revenue of $20.84 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.92 on revenue of $21.26 billion.
