Private companies added 44,000 jobs in July, a slowdown from the 95,000 the prior month and below market expectations, ADP reported Wednesday. Virtually all of the job gains came from healthcare related sectors, with goods-producing industries seeing a net loss. Pay growth for those changing jobs hit its highest level in nearly a year.

Disney (DIS) was up by more than 3%, despite the media giant reporting a mixed fiscal third quarter. While earnings per share came in above expectations, revenue missed slightly. Revenue for the company’s experiences business, which includes its theme parks, was up 10% annually. The company earned an adjusted $2.06 per share in the fiscal third quarter, beating an estimate for $1.86.

Oil prices fell more than 1% Wednesday as investors assessed diplomatic efforts to end the conflict between the U.S. and Iran. West Texas Intermediate futures for September delivery, the U.S. benchmark, declined about 1% to $74.97 per barrel. Brent crude futures for October delivery, the international benchmark, lost 0.8% to $78.77 a barrel.

U.S. futures are mostly higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down 0.0091 at $4.0801 per gallon.
