The VIX closed Wednesday at 16.29 (-4.23%) and the 10 YR at 4.486 (+0.16%). The VIX is currently at 16.39 (+0.61%). The 10YR is at 4.490 (+0.27%).

The personal consumption expenditures price index from April showed a seasonally adjusted increase of 0.4% for the month, with the 12-month inflation rate at 3.8%, according to the Commerce Department. Economists had been looking for respective readings of 0.5% and 3.8%.

Oil prices rebounded Thursday, with the West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures rising about 2% to top $90 a barrel, and Brent futures gaining nearly 2% to top $96. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said Thursday that it targeted a U.S. airbase, according to the Tasnim News Agency. That comes after the U.S. military conducted new strikes in Iran against a military site.

U.S. futures are mostly lower, European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down 3.3 cents at $4.426 per gallon.
