The Dow stock losers Friday were led by Caterpillar (CAT) 680.90 (-3.57%), Nvidia (NVDA) 177.82 (-3.01%) and Amazon (AMZN) 213.21 (-2.62%).

The VIX closed Friday at 29.49 (+24.17%) and the 10 YR at 4.148 (-0.12%). The VIX is currently at 31.03 (+5.22%). The 10YR is at 4.158 (+0.43%).

U.S. crude futures climbed above $100 per barrel yesterday for the first time since the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in mid-2022. The surge came after Iraq, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates cut their oil output amid the U.S.-Iran war.

Last week, U.S. crude oil surged 35.6%, its biggest gain in the history of the futures contract. Oil’s rise rocked the stock market, leading the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its worst week in nearly a year.

The national average price of gasoline is up 2.8 cents at $3.478 per gallon.
