The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Merck (MRK) 117.65 (-3.51%), Travelers (TRV) 292.82 (-2.88%) and Nike (NKE) 62.41 (-2.36%).

The VIX closed Monday at 17.37 (-2.20%) and the 10 YR at 4.211 (-0.17%). The VIX is currently at 17.37 (+0.06%). The 10YR is at 4.163 (-1.12%).

The latest retail sales report showed that consumer spending in December was flat, missing the 0.4% monthly gain that economists were expecting. The figure comes after a 0.6% increase recorded in November.

Coca-Cola (KO) is lower this morning after the beverage company reported mixed results for its fourth quarter. Adjusted earnings per share were better than expected for the period, but adjusted revenue came in at $11.82 billion, short of the $12.03 billion Wall Street was expecting. Coca-Cola said it projects 4% to 5% organic revenue growth in 2026.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.9 cents at $2.921 per gallon.
