Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to be up +22 points.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +1.96%.

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) 282.70 (-19.61%), Nike (NKE) 63.09 (-2.92%) and Home Depot (HD) 380.36 (-1.60%).

The VIX closed Tuesday at 16.35 (+1.24%) and the 10 YR at 4.237 (+0.67%). The VIX is currently at 16.43 (+0.49%). The 10YR is at 4.247 (+0.38%).

Later today, the Fed is widely expected to keep its benchmark interest rate steady at a target range of 3.5% to 3.75%, but traders will be seeking hints on longer-term changes to monetary policy. Fed funds futures trading suggests two quarter percentage point cuts by the end of 2026.

The U.S. dollar fell 1.3% on Tuesday, the most since last April, after Trump declined to say that the currency had fallen too much.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up seven-tenths of a cent at $2.888 per gallon.
