The VIX closed Thursday at 15.65 (-7.40%) and the 10 YR at 4.256 (+0.02%). The VIX is currently at 16.09 (+2.88%). The 10YR is at 4.253 (-0.09%).

The Dow’s rally of more than 300 points yesterday pushed it into positive territory for the week, reversing Tuesday’s sell-off.

Both the headline and so-called “core” readings in November’s personal consumption expenditures price index came in at 2.8%, matching the consensus forecasts from economists. The Fed-favored inflation gauge showed inflation is still notably higher than the 2% level preferred by the central bank.

Nvidia (NVDA) shares rose about 1.5% after CNBC reported that CEO Jensen Huang plans to visit China in the coming days ahead of the mid-February Lunar New Year. The report comes as questions over the U.S. chip giant’s ability to sell in the Chinese market swirl.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.2 cents at $2.862 per gallon.
