The consumer price index in June increased 0.3% on the month, putting the annual inflation rate at 2.7%, matching a consensus poll from Dow Jones. So-called core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, grew 0.2% month over month, slightly less than expected. Year over year, it expanded by 2.9%, matching estimates.

Nvidia (NVDA) shares ticked more than 4% higher in the premarket after the chip company said it will resume H20 AI chip sales to China “soon.” “The U.S. government has assured NVIDIA that licenses will be granted, and NVIDIA hopes to start deliveries soon,” the company said in a statement Tuesday.

JPMorgan (JPM) rose 0.7% in the premarket after the bank posted results for the second-quarter that beat analyst expectations. Investment banking and trading revenue drove the stronger-than-expected numbers.

U.S. futures are mostly higher, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down three-tenths of a cent at $3.150 per gallon.
