The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Amgen (AMGN) 272.44 (-5.84%), Chevron (CVX) 146.86 (-1.80%) and Amazon (AMZN) 208.47 (-0.58%).

The VIX closed Monday at 19.83 (-3.83%) and the 10 YR at 4.349 (+0.65%). The VIX is currently at 18.08 (-8.83%). The 10YR is at 4.353 (+0.74%).

U.S. crude oil fell 7% Monday as traders hoped that Iran’s response would be limited and that there would be a path to de-escalation in the Middle East. Prices of U.S. crude oil and global benchmark Brent, which also fell 7%, are at the lowest level since Israel launched strikes against Iran on June 13.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell indicated Tuesday he is in no hurry to cut interest rates as central bank officials wait for the impact of tariffs on inflation to play out. Policymakers are “well positioned to wait to learn more about the likely course of the economy before considering any adjustments to our policy stance,” the central bank leader said in remarks he will present to two congressional committees this week.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up four-tenths of a cent at $3.224 per gallon.
