The Dow stock winners Wednesday were led by Goldman Sachs (GS) 635.24 (+1.70%), JPMorgan (JPM) 273.96 (+1.65%) and Merck (MRK) 79.29 (+1.29%).

The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by Visa (V) 340.38 (-4.88%), Boeing (BA) 197.68 (-1.29%) and Salesforce (CRM) 259.50 (-1.08%).

The VIX closed Wednesday at 20.14 (-6.76%) and the 10 YR at 4.379 (-0.25%). The VIX is currently at 19.27 (-13.08%). The 10YR is at 4.417 (+0.62%).

Stocks closed lower Wednesday after Fed Chair Jerome Powell said that the Fed is in no hurry to cut benchmark rates and will remain data dependent, especially as it remains unclear how Trump’s tariffs will impact the economy. That followed the central bank’s decision to hold interest rates steady. Thursday, markets were closed for the Juneteenth holiday.

Trump ripped into Powell again Thursday, saying the Fed Chair is costing the U.S. “hundreds of billions of dollars” by delaying rate cuts.

JPMorgan reiterated its overweight rating on Cisco (CSCO), saying security transformation can drive up valuation 20 times. The firm said Cisco will benefit from opportunities associated with the networking cycle as well as an increase in the organic growth pace in security revenues. JPMogan’s 12-month price target of $73 would translate into a 11% gain from the current level.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.2 cents at $3.217 per gallon.
