The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Chevron (CVX) 137.37 (-1.56%), Travelers (TRV) 271.86 (-1.52%) and Verizon (VZ) 43.24 (-1.35%).

The VIX closed Thursday at 18.48 (+4.49%) and the 10 YR at 4.395 (+0.53%). The VIX is currently at 17.14 (-7.25%). The 10YR is at 4.464 (+1.62%).

U.S. payrolls climbed 139,000 in May, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday, above the Dow Jones forecast of 125,000 for the month but less than the downwardly revised 147,000 in April. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.2%.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down five-tenths of a cent at $3.141 per gallon.
