Americans have grown extremely sour on Trump’s handling of the economy than at any point in his two terms as president, as tariffs and efforts to slash federal government spending hit sentiment, according to the latest CNBC All-America Economic Survey. Only 43% of respondents approve of how he is handling the economy, while 55% disapprove. More Americans now believe the economy will get worse than at any time since 2023. Remember, Trump got reelected specifically to improve the economy, and so far, Americans are not liking what they’re seeing. The major averages are down around 7% since April 2, when Trump announced a raft of levies on imports from other countries.

Amazon (AMZN) shares ticked 1.7% lower following Raymond James’ downgrade to outperform from strong buy. The firm also slashed its price target, citing headwinds tied to tariffs and concerns with the economic backdrop.

Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid -2.66%, its third negative week in four. It sits -13.16% below its record high.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up two-tenths of a cent at $3.153 per gallon.
