The Dow stock winners Monday were led by Nvidia (NVDA) 112.20 (+1.35%), American Express (AXP) 257.86 (+0.97%) and Goldman Sachs (GS) 507.89 (+0.78%).

The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Boeing (BA) 155.52 (-2.36%), Caterpillar (CAT) 293.43 (-1.57%) and Amazon (AMZN) 179.59 (-1.39%).

The VIX closed Tuesday at 30.12 (-2.49%) and the 10 YR at 4.329 (+0.25%). The VIX is currently at 32.11 (+6.11%). The 10YR is at 4.320 (+0.05%).

Retail sales increased 1.4% in March, according to advanced data released Wednesday from the Commerce Department. That’s higher than the 1.4% consensus forecast from economists.

Shares of Nvidia (NVDA) dropped more than 6% after the chip giant said it will post a $5.5 billion quarterly charge related to exporting its H20 graphics processing units to China and other nations. The company said in a filing that the U.S. government required a license to send chips from the U.S. to China.

Shares of Travelers (TRV) rose more than 2% in Wednesday premarket trading after the insurer recorded much better earnings than Wall Street projected. Travelers earned $1.91 per share, excluding items, in the first quarter, while analysts forecasted 78 cents a share. That pulled attention from the company’s $10.52 billion in quarterly revenue, a smaller figure than the Street’s consensus forecast of $10.83 billion.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down four-tenths of a cent at $3.169 per gallon.
