Boeing (BA) shares fell more than 3% after Beijing ordered Chinese airlines not to take more deliveries of Boeing planes and to halt purchases of aircraft equipment from U.S. companies.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reported quarterly results that beat analyst expectations. The pharmaceutical giant earned $2.77 per share on revenue of $21.89 billion. Analysts expected a profit of $2.59 per share on revenue of $21.56 billion. Shares ticked slightly higher in the premarket.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down five-tenths of a cent at $3.184 per gallon.
