The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Nike (NKE) 54.40 (-8.29%), Chevron (CVX) 134.98 (-7.57%) and Disney (DIS) 85.23 (-6.79%).

The VIX closed Thursday at 40.72 (+21.12%) and the 10 YR at 4.328 (+1.05%). The VIX is currently at 43.91 (+7.83%). The 10YR is at 4.484 (+2.20%).

JPMorgan (JPM) shares rose more than 2% after the bank’s revenue for the first quarter topped Wall Street’s estimates. JPMorgan posted revenue for the period of $46.01 billion, above the $44.11 billion that analysts were expecting. CEO Jamie Dimon also warned that the economy is facing “considerable turbulence.”

U.S. tariffs currently in place include 145% duty on all goods from China, 25% tariffs targeting aluminum, autos and goods from Canada and Mexico that are not under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement and a 10% levy on all other imports.

The dollar index weakened 1% Friday, putting it on track to end the week down by 3%.

U.S. 2Yr/10Yr Spread is at 0.63, up +0.08 (+15.41%). Not good. Over 0.50 is an indicator for recession.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down 1.2 cents at $3.210 per gallon.
