The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by Procter & Gamble (PG) 168.37 (-2.74%), Walmart (WMT) 85.20 (-2.56%) and McDonald’s (MCD) 299.40 (-2.40%).

The VIX closed Wednesday at 24.23 (-9.99%) and the 10 YR at 4.301 (-0.37%). The VIX is currently at 24.25 (+0.08%). The 10YR is at 4.347 (+0.69%).

The producer price index, a measure of wholesale inflation, was flat in February, another potential sign that inflation pressures may be ebbing. Economists expected a month-over-month increase of 0.3%.

Intel (INTC) jumped 10% after the company said it had appointed Lip-Bu Tan, who was previously the chief executive of software company Cadence Design Systems, as its new CEO. Tan is replacing interim co-CEOs David Zinsner and MJ Holthaus.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $3.079 per gallon.
