Last week the Dow fell 2.51% for its second negative week in three and worst weekly performance since October.

Friday we get the January reading of the personal consumption expenditures index, which is the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation.

Apple (AAPL) announced on Monday plans to invest more than $500 billion in the U.S. in an effort to boost its artificial intelligence capabilities. That includes hiring about 20,000 workers in the U.S. and building a factory for AI servers in Texas — which is expected to go online in 2026.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down six-tenths of a cent at $3.145 per gallon.
