The VIX closed Friday at 13.81 (-0.79%) and the 10 YR at 4.400 (+1.71%). The VIX is currently at 14.23 (+3.04%). The 10YR is at 4.381 (-0.39%).
This week we have the Federal Open Market Committee’s meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, when Federal Reserve officials are widely expected to lower the benchmark interest rate again. As of Sunday night, pricing in the Fed funds futures market pointed to a 95.3% likelihood of a rate cut this week.
Honeywell (HON) shares rose about 3% in premarket trading after the company said its board is exploring the possibility of separating its aerospace division.
U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.
The national average price of gasoline is up one-tenth of a cent at $3.024 per gallon.
