The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) 533.53 (-5.60%), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) 146.64 (-1.74%) and McDonald’s (MCD) 296.10 (-1.53%).

The VIX closed Wednesday at 13.58 (-4.23%) and the 10 YR at 4.273 (+1.18%). The VIX is currently at 13.60 (+0.15%). The 10YR is at 4.289 (+0.42%).

The producer price index, which tracks wholesale prices, increased 0.4% last month. Economists polled by Dow Jones expected a 0.2% increase on a monthly basis. This follows November’s consumer price index report, which came in line with economists’ estimates and has led investors to anticipate another rate cut from the Federal Reserve at its policy meeting next week. Fed funds futures trading data reflects a nearly 98% likelihood that central bank policymakers will lower rates next week.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down nine-tenths of a cent at $3.020 per gallon.
