Boeing (BA) machinists voted 59% in favor of a new contract on Monday, ending a more than seven-week strike that stopped most of the company’s aircraft production. The contract includes 38% wage increases over four years along with other improvements. The 33,000 machinists who walked off the job in September voted down two prior contract proposals, but union leadership warned that the latest deal might be as good as workers could get. Workers on strike will return to their jobs no later than November 12th but could return as early as Wednesday.

Thursday we get the Federal Reserve’s November rate decision and fresh commentary from Chair Jerome Powell on the central bank’s policy moves going forward. Traders are pricing in 98% odds of a quarter-point cut following September’s half-point reduction.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up one-tenth of a cent at $3.102 per gallon.
