The VIX closed Thursday at 19.08 (-0.83%) and the 10 YR at 4.207 (+0.21%). The VIX is currently at 18.65 (-2.25%). The 10YR is at 4.184 (-0.33%).

Treasury yields moved lower, easing back slightly after hitting three-month highs on Wednesday.

Onions and Quarter Pounders are attacking McDonald’s (MCD) bottom line on a E. coli outbreak. McDonald’s restaurants issued a recall notification on Wednesday for four onion products produced by Taylor Farms. They make one of my favorite bag salads.

Recent consumer survey data on iPhone sales points to a lack of growth for Apple, according to KeyBanc Capital Markets. Shares fell nearly 1% in the premarket after analyst Brandon Nispel downgraded the mega-cap tech name to underweight from sector weight, and his updated price target reflects more than 13% downside ahead, as of Thursday’s close.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down six-tenths of a cent at $3.144 per gallon.
