The VIX closed Thursday at 20.68 (+2.43%) and the 10 YR at 4.850 (+0.12%). The VIX is currently at 20.11 (-2.76%). The 10YR is at 4.882 (+0.78%).

Futures were little changed following the personal consumption expenditures reading for September. The key inflation measure increased 0.3% in September and 3.7% year-over-year, matching estimates from economists. Consumer spending increased 0.7%, however, surpassing estimates of 0.5%. PCE is the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge.

Intel (INTC) popped 7% after posting third-quarter results Thursday that topped Wall Street’s expectations and offered strong guidance for the current period.

Chevron (CVX) posted earnings per share of $3.05, excluding items, for the third quarter. That’s well below estimates of $3.75 per share. Revenue of $54.08 billion exceeded expectations.

U.S. futures are mostly higher, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down 1.3 cents at $3.518 per gallon.
