The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Procter & Gamble (PG) 143.36 (-0.51%), Coca Cola (KO) 52.88 (-0.49%) and Walmart (WMT) 155.84 (-0.36%).

The VIX closed Monday at 17.70 (+1.43%) and the 10 YR at 4.649 (+0.15%). The VIX is currently at 17.58 (-0.68%). The 10YR is at 4.696 (+1.16%).

The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield is down some this morning and West Texas Intermediate oil was down around 0.4%, while Brent futures were lower by 0.3%.

Israel says it’s regained control of the country’s border along the Gaza Strip, four days after attacks on southern Israel by Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. The Israeli government continues its airstrikes over the enclosed Gaza territory and has ordered the complete stop of water, electricity and food to the roughly 2.3 million people who live in the impoverished block. The U.N. Relief and Works Agency estimates displacements across the Gaza Strip have “escalated” in the past 24 hours, affecting more than 187,500 people. Meanwhile, Hamas says it’s holding some 150 Israeli hostages, and the death toll from the swift and shocking violence has passed 1,500, according to Israeli and Palestinian health services.

U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down 2.2 cents at $3.682 per gallon.
